. . . And a memory of standing outside of a club one morning waiting to get in and and feeling the bass from "Surrender Yourself" reverberate through brick and mortar. I think Peter Daou left music production for something of a successful career in politics. The other half of The Daou, Peter's sister Vanessa, has continued to make music, leaning more toward the down-tempo side of things where her breathy spoken word type vocals are undoubtedly well-suited. Anyway, "Surrender Y'all Selves !" Nothing like a healthy dose of thick, heavy bass to shake you out of yourself and restore some of the potentially lost or forgotten mystery and foreboding of the night(club) experience.

So many great David Morales remixes to choose from. I just grabbed this one at random. I remember the first time I heard the Morales mix of U2's "Lemon". I couldn't believe my ears. What's your favorite ? The Def Mix of "Strobelite Honey" from 1992 was definitely a floor-filler . . .

A few true classics from Chaka Khan and Diana Ross; always refreshing to hear songs like these, especially one of my favorites, Diana Ross's "Once In The Morning" from the Ashford and Simpson produced masterpiece 'THE BOSS' LP, after a dark, moody, sweat-drenched set.
