Unless, of course, it isn't. Jimi Bazzouka's first EP of re-edits has been floating around on various systems for a few weeks around here. If I wasn't singing the dreamy re-edit of "Let 'Em In" I was replaying the sliced and diced so nice "Troglodyte" on my iPod and wishing it were longer than four minutes.

Not sure who's responsible for the re-edits on the 'BITSHIT 1 & 2' EP new from For Disco Only, and the edit of "Love Shack" is titled "NULL ZWEI" on the b-side to further mystify matters, but this re-edit's a monster and this week's favorite. Speaking of "Monster", remember that Fred Schneider and the Shake Society song ? I remember searching everywhere for a silver nehru jacket just like Fred's but I never found one. :( Then I got over it. I may have bought a car instead. I wonder what ever happened to that car ?
There's a monster in his pants and it does a modern dance, yo. Okay thanks, Fred. Anyway, my eyes glazed over (in a good way) when I played the edit of "Love Shack". It thoroughly rocks.
Definitely a feel-good re-edit of "Straight From The Heart" by Loose Change. Kind of reminds me of a block party in Brooklyn for some reason.

More re-edits, it looks like. I've eaten an entire box of Nilla Wafers while digging around for info on this Danny Krivit edit. It's something I've been meaning to post for a while but never got around to it. More downtempo / hip-hop than I generally go in for, but this edit is killer.
Daydreaming. I thought I'd better post something here or it seems like I never would. "Soon" is the first single from the LP 'CATHOLIC', a collaborative effort by disco legend Patrick Cowley and Indoor Life's Jorge Socarras, supposedly lost for 30 years.

"How Stupid Mr. Bates" is a groover of an instrumental from the 1982 'BRIMSTONE AND TREACLE' motion picture soundtrack. The film starred Sting, who composed most of the music for the soundtrack, earning himself the 1984 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the 'BRIMSTONE AND TREACLE' title track.
More Sting and an edit of German composer, conductor, and keyboard player Eberhard Schoener's 1992 single "Why Don't You Answer ?" from Mindless Boogie 18: 'WHY DON'T YOU DUB ?' Passed right over this for the edit of "King Of Hollywood" by the Eagles but now I can't get the Rove Dogs Eberhard Schoener edit off my player.

Loving the oddly euphoric Krautrock-infused disco from the 'HyBoLT' EP by Cologne 4-piece Von Spar, out on Italic Records.

Hailing from the same quadrant of the cosmic-disco as Studio, Fontän are Johan Melin and Jesper Jarold who first got my attention last year with a gorgeous rework of "Early Morning" by A Mountain Of One. "... You Too" is from the duo's first full-length 'WINTERHWILA', and it's fifty-five minutes of just the sweetest psych-rock-disco I've heard since A Mountain Of One's 'INSTITUTE OF JOY'.
"Storm" is from the 2008 Popnoname 'SURROUNDED BY WEATHER' LP, also on Cologne's Italic Records, a label I've taken a great interest in lately. Italic's main interest 'is to give repetitive dance music the direction of pop.' Pop ? This is techno to break your heart.
The latest edit treat from SirBilly sees the Italian DJ / producer / music columnist / 30-year veteran to the dance music scene and all around swell guy scaling back the vocals on a Sparks favorite to great effect, adding another sweet edit to an already impressive list.

August Darnell (b. 1950, Montreal), and his brother Sonny Browder Jr., formed Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band in the Bronx in the 70s; Browder playing guitar while Darnell played bass and sang backup, both collaborating on songwriting. The brothers recruited Cory Daye and released the band's self-tittled LP in 1976 on RCA. It's certainly one of the '5 albums I'd take with me to a deserted island' (good luck trying to get me to go to a deserted island with just five records), and from where the original, unedited version of "Sunshower" is taken.

The original version of "Railroad Man" is from the 1974 Bill Withers LP '+'JUSTMENTS'. It's amazing what the late Bill Withers was doing in 1974, isn't it ? It's also amazing what Mr. Beedle has done with his song. As you can listen from the original, Mr. Beedle didn't have to do a whole hell of a lot to the already monstrous album version, but his strokes are just right. It's my favorite edit of the moment from the second installment of the Cosmic Boogie series.
