More techno moodiness I've been listening to lately from Superpitcher (Aksel Schaufler) and the CD sampler 'POPULAR SONGS' on Kompakt, released a few years ago.

Still loving this re-edit of "Mustapha Dance", the B-side of the Clash's 1982 12" classic "Rock The Casbah", on Better Days Records by mystery man Brad Shitt, updating the already serious party-starter with some sax bits and dose of cowbell for two minutes of added awesomeness over the original, and a party out of bounds in my cube.
The tenth volume and crowning piece in the venerable Rvng Of The Nrds series of edits goes to Pilooski with a 10-minute burner of a re-edit of reggae / gospel artist Nora Dean's mesmeric "Ay Ay Ay". 10/10.
From 'CAPTAIN FUTURE RE-ANIMATED', a compilation of remixes of Hans Christian Bruhn's original soundtrack recording for the Japanese anime "Captain Future", broadcast in Germany in the early 80s.

A couple of my favorite remixes of music by French space disco pioneers Space; the first by Chicago producer Jordan Fields for the first installment of his Risque De Funk Electrique project 'MODERN STYLE: VOLUME 1'. Ilya Santana's awesome interpretation of "Running In The City" is from 'THE SPACE REMIXES, VOL. 1" on Nang Records.

My favorite song by Space, the original version of "Save Your Love For Me" from 1978. I was hanging out at a bar in the East Village in the 80s the first time I heard this song and then someone handed me a bottle of poppers, and I don't remember much after that. Just kidding. ♥ y'all.

Kind of a mixed bag / bag of mixes. Loving this song, but couldn't find much information on 80s synth-pop artist Anna (Anna Quinn), save for that her dreamy pop confection "Like They Do In The Movies", released in 1981, was the first of only two singles. Anna released "Systems Breaking Down" the following year before fading into some obscurity.
"Like They Do In The Movies" was written by Ken Leray (who wrote Fern Kinney's only number one hit in 1979, "Together We Are Beautiful"), and Geraint Hughes who penned "I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper" for Sarah Brightman and Hot Gossip . . .
So, so hot . . . and I just love fog machines, don't you ? You really can't go wrong with a fog machine and a troop of dancers leaping around in skin-tight body suits, I always say.
More Italo-Disco from that magic years of 1982-83. The first, from Digital Emotion, and a re-edit by Seattle DJ / Producer "7Up" and a 12" released in 2005. One of the members of Q-Feel, Martin Page, went on to write "These Dreams" for Heart and "We Built This City" for Starship.

I've been loving the latest re-releases of Disconet classics. "Again and Again" is one of my mid-80s disco favorites by Nikki Lauren that hasn't reappeared on a compilation yet.

Possibly one of the better mixes from Southern California DJ and disco aficionado Glenn Rivera's extensive output is his subtle ReStructure of gorgeous uplifter "Tomorrow", originally from Cappuccino's 1981 self-titled LP, you know, the one that brought us disco destroyer "Hell Dance With Me" when that album resurfaced (at least on my radar) a while ago. Get your disco download fiend on at Mr. Rivera's Shades Of Seventies page. You know you want to.
